Studio di Nudo ( Oil on canvas, 67.5 x 116 )
The linen canvas was prepared by the artist with chalk and rabbit glue and stretched on a fixed frame. This process gives the surface an almost scratched appearance. The work recalls the photography of the early twentieth century, the black and white images of unveiled women immortalized by the first cameras: the pose, the even softer physicality made by the chiaroscuro effect, the porcelain white skin that turns to amber in the canvas. In the mean time the linear and clear figuration, the rigor of the drawing and the solidity of the forms can lead back to an older tradition, revealing the artist's academic background.
