The work leads the viewer's eye into the intimacy of the artist's atelier where the model is caught in a distracted pose, in the spontaneous gesture of stroking her hair. She is not alone, not far from her there is another figure, which we just have a glimpse of her hand. They both rest on sofas, inbetween curtains and soft cushions: the furniture is given prominence thanks to the use of color that changes from the chromatic scale of browns to shades of purple and blue-green rendered in shaded brushstrokes, for an enveloping and feminine atmosphere.
